Application Guidelines

  • Eligible applicants include clubs, friends groups, associations, city, county, federal & state agencies, etc. State OHV grant dollars cannot be awarded to a for-profit entity.
  • Applicants will no longer be scored based on a selected grant category. There is only one set of scoring criteria based on the OHV Program Eligiblilty.
  • Federal Trail Stewards are limited to one (1) position per application; OHV grant funds will cover salaries only (not to exceed $16,000).
  •  Maximum per individual application is $20,000.
  • Applicants should be aware that funding adjustments are often made in order to award the most projects in an effort to achieve the greatest benefit State-wide.
  • Federal agencies submitting applications are strongly encouraged to form partnerships at the local level for their respective projects.  Examples might include a local OHV club providing time and labor to combine with a proposed Federal Trail Steward position, or a funding match from a local Chamber of commerce for a signage project on Federal lands.
  • Friends groups, local Clubs and other entities are likewise encouraged to form partnerships with other user interest groups, Federal agencies, dealerships, etc.
  • Environmental Review Documents and Support Letters are valid for up to three years if you have no variations (no changes in your project scope) from previous grant applications.
